CBE for the Darling Brothers

19/06/2008

Richard and David Darling, the co-founders of Codemaster, one of the longest running British video game developers, have both been appointed Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2008 for services to the computer games industry.

The brothers starting writing games at an early age and worked initially for Mastertronic, and set up their own company in 1986 and released their first title, BMX simulator, into the budget market. They quickly established themselves in the growing ZX Spectrum and home computer market, but are probably most famous for the Dizzy series of games, Micro Machines and more recently Colin McRae.
