With the Beijing Olympics less that 1 day away (08/08/08 08:08), the BBC has a good article about the Fourth Olympiad: it was the first and last time that Britain ever topped an Olympic medal table.
Bicycle polo is no longer an Olympic event and the tug-of-war seems unlikely to make a return to such an exalted stage, but allegations of cheating and drugs were with us even then
