Xbox Live Arcade - Retro Games

15/04/2008

If you own an Xbox 360, then you are a lucky person if you're a retro gamer.

The Xbox Live Arcade service offers many remakes of our good old favourites and brings them straight into your living room via the telly box! Blooming marvelous!

One of the most played Live-Arcade games is Geometry Wars. A very well done Arcade-Shooter with a great combination of "old" playability (survive as long as possible and score as many points as possible by destroying a constant, ever-increasing swarm of enemies) and fantastic modern effects.

Geometry Wars started as a minigame created by Bizarre Creations as part of Project Gotham Racing 2 for the Xbox, accessible through the in-game garage, and it's an updated version of the game Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved that you can download on via Xbox Live Arcade.

If you don't want to buy the full-version of "Gemoetry Wars" (why!?) or don't have a Xbox 360, there are a couple of clones out there in the web, which run on your PC.

Propably the most popular is GRID WARS (Linux and Windows verions available).
Another well done clone is GRID Assault (Windows only).

Geometry Wars: Evolved, has also been produced for download to mobile phones, and a version has also been released for Windows Vista. Another version named Geometry Wars: Waves is available to play in Project Gotham Racing 4. The latest version, Geometry Wars: Galaxies was released for the Nintendo DS and Wii in the back end of last year.
